Biography
FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- Marian University softball student-athlete
Emily Gorges (New London, Wis.) was named to the 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region Second Team as a utility player to represent the Sabres after her historic season with the program.
"It's a great honor for Emily and an honor for the program. It's been 10 years since we have had someone achieve this status," head coach Tony Draves said. "It's a testament to her hard work and to a lot of the people around her. She was in a lot of good situations offensively and made the most of them."
Gorges's offensive efforts put her at the top of eight offensive categories for the Sabres. The slugger led the team with home runs (5), RBIs (.445), hits (57), average (.445), doubles (13), triples (1), on-base percentage (.466) and slugging percentage (.680).
Gorges also led seven statistical categories from the circle. The righty had the most wins (7) and complete games (16), the lowest ERA (3.77), pitched 144.2 innings, had 4.74 strike outs per game and struck out 98 batters while allowing only 17 walks.
Overall Gorges ranked top five in three statistical categories (batting average, RBI, strike outs) in the NACC.
