Biography
MILWAUKEE - Senior Tommy Gerlach was named the NACC Defensive Player of the Year to highlight seven Marian men's lacrosse student-athletes who earned all-conference recognition.
Gerlach (Verona, Wis.) earns the second all-conference selection of his career being named to the first team along with earning defensive player of the year honors. He was one of only three student-athletes in the NACC to eclipse 100 ground balls on the year as he recorded 103, and he also ranked third in the conference with 22 caused turnovers. Gerlach had four games where he posted double-digit ground balls and set a new single-game Marian record with 15 ground balls coming at Illinois Tech. He also had a season-best four caused turnovers come in that win against the Scarlet Hawks as he had five games with at least three caused turnovers. He earned one NACC player of the week selection during the season. Gerlach closes out his career with 312 ground balls and 87 caused turnovers at Marian.
