Tony Grannis All-Region

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – Marian University sophomore second baseman Tony Grannis adds one more accolade to his stellar 2014 campaign as D3baseball.com announced its All-Region teams, today, May 19, placing the Sabre standout as a Third Team All-Midwest Region selection.

Grannis is the first Marian player to earn All-Region honors by D3baseball.com and was one of three second baseman honored to the All-Midwest Region team this season behind Parker Olson of St. Scholastica and Chris Senn of Rockford, who made the first and second teams, respectively. The Madison native batted a team-best .376 at the plate this season, while adding a robust .461 on-base percentage, which was fifth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. He totaled 41 hits, including seven doubles, while adding 22 runs scored and 25 RBIs.

The All-Region teams were announced in lieu of this week's upcoming NCAA Division III College World Series tournament, which is now down to eight contending teams. D3baseball.com's All-Midwest Region is comprised of three teams of 14 players each, including eight position players, a designated hitter, one utility player, three starting pitchers and a relief pitcher.
