Christian Butler

Christian Butler was announced as the head coach for the Marian men's golf program in August of 2026.

Butler joins Marian after spending three seasons at St. Scholastica where he served as an assistant coach and interim head coach during his tenure.  In his lone season as interim head coach, he guided the Saints to triple their win total from the previous season with a student-athlete earning All-MIAC honors for just the second time in program history.  There were also three CSC Academic All-District selections following that campaign. During his entire tenure, he played a major role in recruiting, scouting, and the implementation of a strength and conditioning program. Off of the basketball court, Butler served as an assistant coach for the men's and women's golf programs.

Prior to his time at CSS, Butler spent three seasons at NACC foe Aurora University where he was an assistant coach.  During this time, he served as the head coach of the varsity-reserve team along with maintaining a role with daily basketball activities and recruiting.  This position came after he served as a graduate assistant at Montana State University Billings, NCAA Division II. His coaching career began at Hope College where he was a student-assistant coach after spending one season as a student-athlete.  Butler also spent time coaching in the AAU circuit, spending time with the Mercury Elite and Wisconsin Playmakers North.

Butler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sports leadership and psychological principles of sports from Hope College in 2018.  He then earned a Master of Education degree in interdisciplinary studies from Montana State in 2020.
