Grant Monroe joined the Marian men's basketball coaching staff in 1999 as an assistant coach.
Originally from Chicago, Ill., Monroe played high school basketball at St. Lawrence before joining the Sabres in the fall of 1993. Monroe was also a player under Coach Boyle from 1993-97. In 109 career games, he averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game - finishing his career sixth in games played, field goals made, rebounds, eighth in points (1103), and first in Marian basketball history in blocked shots (138).
Monroe graduated Marian College with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting.
A three-time all Lake Michigan Conference selection, Monroe joined Boyle's staff in 1998 and helped coach the Sabres to the 1999-2000 regular season conference championship. The following season, the Sabres were conference tournament champions and earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Monroe and his wife, Melissa, currently reside in Fond du Lac with daughter, Aleah, and sons, Camden and Cole.
