Kim Sorensen was hired in August of 2000 as Marian’s first-ever full-time athletic trainer. She also serves as the Senior Woman Administrator in the athletic department and was promoted to serve as an assistant athletic director in July of 2025.

The impact of Sorensen has been felt outside of Marian as well at both the conference and national level.  Sorensen currently is the chair member for the NACC SWA committee and has held a similar position in the past for the athletic trainers of the conference.  With the SWA group, she also served as the certified chief executive officer.  At the national level, Sorensen is currently a committee member for the NCAA Division III Ice Hockey Championship.

Before coming to Marian, Sorensen served as a Graduate Assistant and Interim Head Athletic Trainer at the College of Saint Benedict. While doing that, she was also completing work on a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. There she managed all aspects of the athletic training department while designing strength and conditioning programs for various teams. Aside from her duties at St. Benedict, she worked at the St. Cloud Orthopedic Clinic and the St. John’s University and St. Cloud University athletic training departments.

No stranger to the Fox Valley, the Neenah native earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1997. Her degree has an emphasis in Exercise and Fitness along with a double minor in Athletic Training and Health Education and Wellness Promotion. Sorensen also worked as a student athletic trainer in the Titan athletic training department. Sorensen received her certification from the NATA/BOC (National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification) in 1998.

Aside from her academic work, Sorensen also has the distinction of being on the first-ever varsity women’s soccer team at UW-Oshkosh in 1993 - scoring the first-ever goal for the Titans - and leading the team in scoring in that inaugural season. Playing only two seasons on the squad, she helped lead the Titans to a combined 13-12-5 record and finished 13th on the school’s all-time scoring list with 13 points.
