The 2016 season will mark the 15th for Jason Bartelt as head coach of the Marian baseball program, having posted a career record of 266–287-1 in his first 14 seasons. Bartelt has been a part of four, 20-win seasons in his tenure. He oversees all aspects of the baseball program and continues to extend the deep tradition of Marian University baseball.

The 2014 season saw the Sabres fall a win shy of qualifying for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament with a 17-21 mark, including a 9-11 record in conference play. In spite of it all, the Sabres finished second in the league in team batting average (.315), on-base percentage (.406) and slugging percentage (.419).

Five players made All-NACC, including sophomore Tony Grannis, who was a First Team selection and D3baseball.com All-Midwest Region choice as a second baseman. Senior Chad Langley earned Second Team All-NACC honors, while senior Brandon Winfield and junior Jordan DeBoer were honorable mention selections and Tanner Biwer made the All-Freshmen Team.

Bartelt came to Marian from Lakeland College, where he served as hitting/infield instructor for four seasons with the Muskies, the last two as a full-time assistant coach. Bartelt started his coaching career under former Muskie Head Coach John Weber after completing his playing career at Lakeland. The two-time All-LMC shortstop wrapped up his collegiate career in the top five of almost every category in the Muskies record book.

Bartelt graduated from Lakeland College with a degree in Exercise Science and Secondary Education with an emphasis in Biology.

He and his wife, Ann, and sons, Casey and Carter, currently reside in Fond du Lac.
