The 2014 season will mark thefourth for Marian University Head Softball Coach AshleySteltenpohl. She has totaled 45 wins in her first three seasons,including a career-best 21 victories in 2012.

The 2013 season saw ayouthful Sabres squad compile an 11-25 overall mark. Two Sabresearned All-Conference honors with Emilie Jansen earning First TeamAll-NAC for the second straight season. Inher illustrious career with Marian, she became the onlyplayer in school history with 25 doubles, 10 triples and 16 homeruns. Her six triples in 2013 led the league. Freshman standoutEmily Gorges was named to the All-Freshman squad after tossing171.2 innings, while striking out 123 batters, good for third inthe league.

The Sabres finished the 2012campaign with a 21-20 overall mark and a 15-9 record in leagueplay, an improvement of eight wins overall and three victories inthe NAC, good for the fourth overall seed in the conferencetournament.

She came to Marian after spending a year-and-a-half as anassistant coach at UW-Stevens Point. At UW-Stevens Point, shewas responsible with day-to-day operations of the softball program,including the recruitment of perspective student-athletes. Inher role at UW-Stevens Point, she worked primarily with thepitchers and catchers.

Steltenpohl, a Wisconsin Rapids native, was a four-yearstarter at UW-Oshkosh from 2006-2009 under Head Coach Cindy Suess.She started in all 160 of her games played and helped lead theTitans to a 115-56 record in her four seasons. She played multiplepositions including catcher, outfield, and first base as aTitan. She helped lead the Titans to the 2007 WIACChampionship and a 2nd-place Regional finish. She was also on the2007 All-Regional Tournament Team.In 2008, the Titans also finishedsecond at the Regional Tournament.
