Box Score (Fond du Lac, WI) - The Sabres won their fifth straight contest on Saturday as they upended Alverno College 6-0. The Sabres have recorded three straight shutouts and have outscored their last five opponents 28-1. With the victory, Marian stays in second place in the Northern Athletics Conference with an 8-3 record overall and a 7-2 record in conference.
Marian scored five times in the first period to grab control of the game early. Brittany Graham (Alvin, WI) was the first Sabre to score as she found the back of the net in the 19th minute. Kim Kriese (Stevens Point, WI) then scored at the 23:06 mark and the 25:06 mark to make it 3-0. Carly Saunders (Eagle River, WI) assisted on Kriese's second goal.
Danielle Grable (Neenah, WI) and Ellen Eickhoff (New Holstein, WI) also scored in the period, with Saunders assisting on Grable's goal.
Morgan Franz (Eagle River, WI) closed out the scoring late in the game as she tallied a goal in the 82nd minute.
Tiffany Erdman (Wausau, WI) and Jordan Dykstra (Cedar Grove, WI) combined to shut out the Inferno. Erdman recorded two saves, while Dykstra was credited with one.
Marian out-shot the Inferno 32-4 in the contest and put 20 of their 32 shots on goal.
Marian is back in action again on Wednesday, as they will host Concordia University-Wisconsin. Action is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
