Box Score (Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University dropped a heartbreaking, 4-3 contest to Concordia University-Wisconsin in overtime on Wednesday evening. The Falcons scored the game-winner 7:26 into the first overtime to emerge victorious. The Falcons moved to 6-1-2 in the Northern Athletics Conference and 9-5-2 overall. Meanwhile, Marian fell to 8-4 overall and 7-3 in the NAC.
The Falcons got on the board first as Lauren Straehler scored 19:20 into the game. Marian's Danielle Grable (Neenah, WI) evened the game in the 31st minute as she scored unassisted.
The game stayed at 1-1 as the teams headed to the locker room. The Falcons recorded 11 shots in the first half, as Marian recorded 7 shots.
The Falcons took the lead again in the 52nd minute as Emily Waldorf scored to put them up 2-1. Grable once again answered the call as she scored off an assist from Brittany Graham (Alvin, WI) in the 54th minute.
Once again, the lead shifted back to the visitors as Waldorf scored with just 3:18 left to play in regulation. Gabriell Rabenhorst assisted on the goal.
Marian came back again in dramatic fashion as Kim Kriese (Stevens Point, WI) scored off an assist from Grable with just 1:50 left to play.
In overtime, the Sabres controlled play for the first seven minutes as they recorded five shots and controlled possession. The Falcons pushed the ball past midfield and were able to get Marian to commit a foul. Cathy Palese took the free kick and was able to send it over Marian's wall and it had just enough to make it past the Sabre defense and goalkeeper.
Concordia out-shot the Sabres 25-15 in the contest.
