Box Score (Aurora, IL) - For the second time in as many games, the Sabres dropped an overtime contest in a pivotal Northern Athletics Conference. On Wednesday, the Sabres fell 4-3 to Concordia University-Wisconsin, and on Saturday, Aurora University outlasted Marian 2-1 in overtime. The Spartans scored the winning goal in the 96th minute to win their second straight game against a top-tier NAC opponent. On Wednesday, the Spartans gave Dominican University their first loss in conference.
The Spartans struck first as Jordan Joyce scored in the 9th minute off an assist from Britney Schenk.
Marian answered off the foot of Danielle Grable (Neenah, WI) as she scored in the 21st minute to even things at 1-1. Grable has now scored eight goals in her last five games. She now has nine goals on the year.
The game stayed tied the rest of the way, as both defenses stood their ground.
Aurora out-shot the Sabres in regulation 19-4.
In overtime, Marian never got off a shot and Joyce struck with the game-winner at the 96:01 mark.
Jordan Dykstra (Cedar Grove, WI) recorded 8 saves in the contest for Marian, while Tiffany Erdman (Wausau, WI) recorded 7 saves.
Marian is now 8-5 overall and 7-4 in the NAC.
