Box Score (Fond du Lac, WI) - Lakeland College scored the game's only goal in the 69th minute on Wednesday night at Smith Fields to pull out the victory. Lakeland is now 8-7-1 overall and 6-3-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference. Marian is now 4-11-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the NAC.

In very foggy conditions, the Muskies out-shot the Sabres 11-6. Both defenses played well, but a misplayed ball by Marian resulted in Lakeland's goal.

Nick Henkemeyer (Prior Lake, MN) stopped 7 shots in the defeat.

Derek Pitterle scored the game-winner for Lakeland.

“ A game we let get away from us. A bad bounce on a wet field was the difference. It was 0-0 at half and it may have stayed that way for the whole game if it wasn't for a fluke play fairly early in the second half. Lakeland took a poor angle shot that was pretty routine, it hit a clump and took a bounce that came off Nick Henkemeyer shoulder and there was a Lakeland player there to put it away. That gave them a 1-0 lead.” 

“Our attacking play and possession play were much better in front of the home crowd tonight. We were able to create openings out wide and were able to get both end line and get some early service into the box. We out shot Lakeland during the game, but I wouldn't say we had any clear cut scoring chances. Most of the shots were half chance type of ones. Besides our effective wide play, we weren't able to penetrate their back four again. It was another game that we were capable of winning, but didn't quite earn it.”
