Box Score (Fond du Lac, WI) – Marian University fell 3-2 in double overtime to Benedictine University on Saturday at Smith Fields, as it was Marian's fourth consecutive game that went into overtime. The Eagles scored the game-winner 1:24 into the second overtime to emerge victorious.
The Eagles (5-10-0, 5-6-0 NAC) got on the board at the 15:16 mark as Rachel Wilson scored. The Eagles took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second, Juana Montalvo scored at the 52:00 mark to make it 2-0. Marian rebounded nicely, however, as Carly Saunders (Eagle River, WI) scored on a rebound shot in the 57th minute. Less than eight minutes later, Danielle Grable (Neenah, WI) scored to even the game. Grable now has scored a goal in seven straight games.
Marian (9-6-1, 6-5-0 NAC) had some great scoring opportunities late in regulation, but couldn't convert.
In the second overtime, Wilson scored the game winner on a direct free kick that got over the head of Marian's goalkeeper.
Marian is back in action again on Tuesday, as they will play at Ripon College.
