(Fond du Lac, WI) – Concordia College-Moorhead scored five times in the third period to come back from a 4-1 deficit and defeat Marian University 6-4. The Sabres appeared on the brink of earning their first victory in program history as they built a 3-1 lead after the second period and a 4-1 lead early in the third period. Concordia then ran off five straight goals, including the game-winner with just :55 remaining in the third.
Marian's Rachel Mullendore (Amery, WI) gave the Sabres a 1-0 lead 6:27 into the first period as she scored on the power play. Alex DeBoer (Spring Lake Park, MN) and Aly Lund (Eau Claire, WI) assisted on the play.
In the second, Devan Lesch (Chicago, IL) made it 2-0 at the 3:11 mark in the second as she also scored on the power play. DeBoer and Kiley O'Connell (New Lenox, IL) assisted on the goal. Just :17 later, Tara Scott (Mt. Albert, ON) added another power play goal to make it 3-0. Amy Knutson (Fond du Lac, WI) and Stephanie Desmeules (Red Lake, ON) recorded assists on the play.
The Cobbers made it 3-1 with a goal in the 14th minute of the second.
In the third, the Sabres added what looked to be an inusurance goal as Knutson made it 4-1 just :58 into the period. From there it was all Cobbers. They scored in the third, fourth, and fifteenth minutes to make it 4-4. They then scored what turned out to be the game-winner at the 19:05 mark. They added an empty-netter with :25 remaining.
The Cobbers out-shot Marian 55-20 in the contest.
Marian (0-3) is back in action on Friday, November 21, as they will host St. Scholastica College at 8:15 PM.
