(Milwaukee, WI) - MSOE came back from a ten-point deficit on Saturday evening and upended Marian University 67-64. With the victory, the Raiders improved to 4-5 and 1-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference, while Marian fell to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the NAC.
Marian had the edge in shooting percentage (41%-38%) and rebounds (38-27) in the contest, but turned the ball over 22 times. The Raiders, who only committed 10 turnovers, turned Marian's miscues into 32 points.
In the first half, neither team shot above 30% as Marian took a 29-26 lead into the locker room. The lead swayed back-and-forth throughout much of the half, with neither team leading by more than four points.
In the second, Marian built their largest lead of the game at 42-32 with 15:13 to play. MSOE then went on a 14-0 run over the next 1:31 to take a four-point lead. The Raiders hit two three-pointers in the run. Marian regained the lead and led by as many as five points on two occasions
With 1:10 left to play, Bryan Ashbeck (Wabeno, WI) hit a pair of free throws to give the Sabres a 64-62 lead. MSOE followed that with a pair of free throws to tie the game with :59 to play. On Marian's next possession, they turned it over leading to an offensive rebound and tip-in for the Raiders. Down 66-64, the Sabres could not convert on a jump shot and the Raiders hit a late free throw to finish the scoring.
Kevin Hudak (Ashwaubenon, WI) and Logan Rankin (Algoma, WI) led the Sabres in scoring with 15 points each. Ashbeck and Colin Lohenry (Algoma, WI) both added 11 points. Lohenry led the Sabres with 9 rebounds.
Jeremy Off led the Raiders with 16 points, while Austin Meier and Luke Larson both added 15 points.
