(St. Paul, MN) - Aly Lund (Eau Claire, WI) scored a pair of goals in Marian's 3-1 victory over Hamline University on Saturday evening. With the non-conference victory, the Sabres are now 2-6 on the season. They will try for the weekend sweep on Sunday, as they will hook up with the Pipers at 1:00 PM.
After a scoreless first period, Lund scored the first goal of the game at the 11:02 mark in the second period off assists from Rachel Mullendore (Amery, WI) and Devan Lesch (Chicago, IL). Leading 1-0 in the third period, Tara Scott (Mt. Albert, ON) made it 2-0 off an assist from Nicole Drews (Waupun, WI) at the 3:13 mark. Lund then gave the Sabres a 3-0 cushion at the 5:26 mark with some help from Drews.
The Pipers tallied a goal at the 14:33 mark in the third, but it was not enough as Melissa Calder (Fort Frances, ON) picked up the victory in goal. She saved 20 shots in the contest.
The Pipers held a 21-13 advantage in shots.
