(Whitewater, WI) - Marian University dropped all four matches over the weekend at the UW-Whitewater tournament. The Sabres are now 1-4 on the season as they prepare for Wednesday's match against Ripon College.
Marian opened with 3-1 (17-25, 5-25, 25-23, 17-25) defeat to UW-Whitewater on Friday and then fell 3-0 (21-25, 12-25,13-25) to Wheaton College. Against UW-Whitewater, Kelsey Westerveld (Holmen, WI), Amy Malcore (Luxemburg, WI), and Alexis Becker (North Fond du Lac, WI) all recorded 5 kills. Michielah Navis (Waupun, WI) dished out 16 assists, while Carlie Kinsey (Waukesha, WI) led the team with 15 digs. Aileen Maier (Pardeeville, WI) chipped in with 8 blocks.
Against Wheaton College, Malcore and Becker both had 6 kills, while Navis recorded 13 assists and 16 assists.
On Saturday, Marian opened up with Bethel University and fell 3-1 (15-25, 17-25, 12-25). Westerveld led the offense with 7 kills, while Navis added 17 assists and 16 digs.
The Sabres finished the weekend with a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 27-29, 11-25) loss to Wheaton College. Becker recorded 12 kills and Navis recorded 16 assists. Westerveld led the team defensively with 20 digs.
