(Watertown, WI) - Marian University shot 25-for-51 (49%) in their 72-67 victory against Marantha Bible Baptist College on Thursday evening. The Sabres also had three players score more than fourteen points in the victory as they are now 7-10 overall and 4-5 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
Both teams shot above 46% in the first half as Marian took a 36-35 lead into the locker rooms. There were three lead changes and four ties in the first half as both teams had leads as large as six points. The Crusaders led 32-26 with 2:32 to play, but the Sabres went on a 10-3 run to close the half and take a one-point lead at the break.
The Sabres opened up the second on an 11-2 run to take a 47-37 lead with 16:18 to play in the half. The Sabres kept their lead in double-digits for much of the half until late as the Crusaders cut the deficit to 70-67 with just :17 to play. Marian hit two free throws to seal the victory late.
Bryan Ashbeck (Wabeno, WI) posted a season-high with 18 points as he was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, including going 3-for-3 from deep, in the contest. Logan Rankin (Algoma, WI) finished with 17 points, while Colin Lohenry (Algoma, WI) finished with 14 points as he went 7-for-8 from the field.
Kevin Hudak (Ashwaubenon, WI) led the team with 5 assists.
The Sabres held a 39-30 advantage on the boards.
