(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University remained unbeaten on the season with a 2-1 overtime victory over Finlandia University. Marian is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the MCHA. They will play in a pivotal series next weekend at Adrian College.
After a scoreless first period,
Mitch Kriz (Berwyn, IL) put Marian ahead 1-0 in the 18th minute of the second.
Todd Collins (Whitby, ON) assisted on the tally.
It appeared Marian would come away with a 1-0 victory, but Finlandia had other ideas. They scored with just 1:09 to play to send the game into overtime.
Marian dominated the extra period, out-shooting the Lions 5-0, including the game-winner from
Brendan Roberts (Calgary, AB). Roberts scored 2:32 into overtime off assists from
Nathan Brummitt (Calgary, AB) and
Dakota Dubetz (Chestermore, AB). Roberts' goal came on the power play.
Alex Bjerk (Roseau, MN) was solid all evening, stopping 35 shots.
Marian out-shot the Lions 51-35 in the contest.
