(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University ended a three-match losing streak on Friday with a 3-1 (27-25, 25-14, 22-25, 25-22) victory over Concordia University. It is the second time the Sabres have defeated the Cougars this season and they are now 7-16 overall and 3-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
All four sets were close in this one except the second set, with Marian dominating that one. The Sabres were very successful serving in the contest, while the Cougars struggled mightily. Marian recorded 14 service aces, while the Cougars recorded 14 service errors.
Ashley Zumbrock (Chippewa Falls, WI) recorded 6 of the aces, while
Carlie Kinsey (Waukesha, WI) added 4.
Kinsey also led the Sabres in kills, along with
Erika Heberer (Kewaskum, WI), as they both recorded 9. Zumbrock and Heberer recorded 12 and 10 digs, respectively.
Michielah Navis (Waupun, WI) had a solid all-around game recording 26 assists, 12 digs, 5 kills, and 4 solo blocks.
Marian is back in action tomorrow morning, as they will host Dominican University at 11:00 AM.
