(Appleton, WI) - The Sabres ended a three-game losing streak in a big way on Friday as the defeated Lawrence University 10-2. The Vikings came into the game undefeated in MCHA play, but were no match for the Sabres. Marian is now 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
The Sabres wasted no time getting started in this one, scoring four times in the first period. Matt Berger (Hartland, WI), Todd Collins (Whitby, ON), Brendan Hull (Calgary, AB), and Matt Williams (Lacombe, AB) all lit the lamp to give the Sabres a 4-1 lead after one period.
In the second, it was all Marian again, as they made it 7-1 with goals coming from Hull, Nathan Brummitt (Calgary, AB), and Robbie Bailey (North Vancouver, BC). The second period also saw three game disqualifications.
In the third, Marian scored three times as well, as Williams scored again and Justin Cormier (Calgary, AB) added a pair.
Lawrence actually out-shot Marian 39-38, but Josh Baker (Canton, MI) was up to the task, stopping 37 shots.
Berger, Brummitt, Collins, and Cormier all tallied three points in the victory.
These two teams are back at it again in Fond du Lac on Saturday. Face-off is set for 4:00 PM.
