(Madison, WI) - In a NAC North battle on Thursday evening, Edgewood College came away with a 61-49 victory at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Eagles were able to open a five-point halftime lead by forcing Marian into 18 second half turnovers.
Marian (5-2, 3-2 NAC) finished the game shooting 34.6% (18-for-52), while holding the Eagles (5-2, 4-0 NAC) to 37% shooting. Marian also out-rebounded the Eagles 41-36, but it wasn't enough.
Marian led by five points early, but never lead after the 13:33 mark in the first half. They trailed 29-24 at the break and the Eagles went on an 11-2 run to open the second half and grab control of the game. The Sabres were not able to cut the deficit to less than seven points the rest of the way.
Brooke Haen (Oakfield, WI) led Marian with 16 points, while
Alexis Becker (North Fond du Lac, WI) and
Elizabeth Zutz (Valders, WI) each added 14 points. Zutz finished with her second straight double-double, as she pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds.
Danielle Dixon led Edgewood with 14 points.
