Marian wins again

(Appleton, WI) - Marian University matched their second longest unbeaten streak in school history on Friday evening as they defeated Lawrence University 5-2. The Sabres have now won ten straight contests and will play two more times this weekend against the Vikings.

The Sabres scored twice in the first and third periods and added a tally in the second. The Sabres outshot the Vikings 39-31 and finished 1-for-5 on the power play, while adding a shorthanded goal.

Adam Freeman (Wauwatosa, WI) and Dakota Dubetz (Chestermore, AB) both scored in the first period to get the Sabres on the right track.

Brendan Hull (Calgary, AB) then scored early in the second to give Marian a 3-0 cushion. Hull's goal was a shorty. The Vikings scored later in the second to make it a 3-1 game going into the third.

In the third, Dubetz scored on the power play in the fifth minute, while Freeman scored a late goal.

Tommy Fitzpatrick (Ft. McMurray, AB) was credited with three assists in the contest, while Nick Cinquegrani (Rolling Meadows, IL) added two.
