(Fond du Lac, WI) - UW-Superior defeated Marian University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon to earn the weekend sweep. The Yellowjackets scored once in the first, but the Sabre defense held strong until early on in the final period when the Yellowjackets added an insurance goal. 

Jodi Holland scored 5:23 into the first period off assists from Shana Katz and Brittany Dunkel to give UW-Superior (13-8-2; 7-5-2 NCHA) a 1-0 lead. 

Then, in the third, Chelsey Wierschem scored off assists from Katz and Allie Pullar to make it 2-0. 

The Sabres (2-19-0; 1-13 NCHA) were outshot 55-14 in the contest, but Melissa Calder (Fort Frances, ON) was up to the task, as she stopped 53 shots. 

Marian will close out the season next weekend against UW-River Falls.
