(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University completed an unusual three-game weekend sweep on Sunday with a 2-1 victory against Lawrence University. In the process, the Sabres tied two important team records. The Sabres have now won twelve straight, which ties them with the 2001-2002 for the longest unbeaten streak. The Sabres are now 17-6 and and 16-2 in the MCHA. Their seventeen victories is tied for the second most in school history and they will have a chance to break that record next weekend against Northland College.
Brendan Roberts (Calgary, AB) put the Sabres on the board early in this one as he scored at the 1:25 mark of the first period. Nathan Brummitt (Calgary, AB) and Brendan Hull (Calgary, AB) assisted on the tally.
In the second, Dakota Dubetz (Chestermore, AB) scored a power-play goal just :52 into the period to make it 2-0. Tommy Fitzpatrick (Ft. McMurray, AB) assisted on the tally.
The Vikings made it interesting midway through the period as they scored a power-play goal of their own.
Neither team scored the rest of the second and both defenses held strong in the third.
Marian outshot the Vikings 52-27 in the contest.
Cullen Caldwell (Calgary, AB) stopped 26 shots in the contest for the Sabres.
