(Fond du Lac, WI) - The Sabres dropped their final NAC game on Wednesday evening, as they fell 67-58 to Rockford College. The Regents are now 7-17 overall and 6-11 in the NAC, while Marian is 5-18 overall and 2-15 in the NAC.
Leading 18-16 with 8:44 to play in the first, the Regents held the Sabres scoreless for the next 5:32 and built a 29-17 lead. The Regents pushed their lead up to sixteen points and led 36-23 at the break. Most of the Regent run came with Marian's
Alexis Becker (North Fond du Lac, WI) and
Emily Reiter (Hilbert, WI) on the bench because of foul trouble.
In the second, Marian trailed 40-23 with 17:54 to play, but went on an 11-0 run over the next 4:32 to cut the deficit to just six points. The Sabres continued to claw their way back and cut the deficit to 44-42 with 10:05 to play.
Marian was never able to get any closer and Rockford took a three-point lead with 8:23 to play and made it a fourteen-point lead with 4:13 left.
Rockford shot 27-for-60 (45%) from the field in the contest, while the Sabres shot 21-for-57 (37%).
Brooke Haen (Oakfield, WI) led all scorers in this one as she poured in a career-high 28 points in the contest, while pulling down 7 rebounds. Becker finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Melissa Swaziek led the Regents with 22 points.
