(Hancock, MI) - Justin Cormier (Calgary, AB) scored three points (2G/1A) on Friday evening to help lead Marian University to their eighth straight victory. Marian scored three times in both the second and third period to pull out the 6-2 victory on the road. With a victory tomorrow against the Lions, the Sabres would match their longest unbeaten streak since the 2000-2001 season.
Todd Collins (Whitby, ON) put the Sabres on the board at the 1:10 mark in the second with a shorthanded goal. Just over a minute later, Cormier lit the lamp with some help from Zack Fray (Cambridge, ON) and Adam Freeman (Wauwatosa, WI). After a Lion power play goal at the 16:05 mark in the second, Nathan Brummitt (Calgary, AB) made it 3-1 off assists from Chris Thompson (Woodbury, MN) and Jason Ford (Milford, MI).
Cormier scored the first goal of the third in the sixth minute to make it 4-1. Freeman and Nick Cinquegrani (Rolling Meadows, IL) assisted on the tally. Brummitt then added a shorthanded goal in the eighth minute to make it 5-1. Brummitt had help from Thompson and Nick Henkemeyer (Prior Lake, MN).
Brendan Hull (Calgary, AB) scored Marian's last goal of the game at the 12:29 mark. His power play goal was assisted by Cormier. The Lions added a goal in the 15th minute of the third to make it 6-2.
Marian got off 35 shots in the contest and held the Lions to just 19.
Alex Bjerk (Roseau, MN) stopped 17 shots in the contest.
