(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University lost game one 5-4 on Sunday, but rallied to win the nightcap 2-1 in eight innings at Smith Fields. Marian is now 12-5 overall and 5-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
The Raiders out-hit the Sabres 13-7 in game one and scored three times in the seventh to erase a 4-2 deficit.
Emily Wiesman (Sheboygan, WI) and
Jenna Whitehead (Kimberly, WI) both had two hits for Marian.
In game two, both teams scored a run in the fourth, and it stayed tied until the bottom of the eighth.
Amy Malcore (Luxemburg, WI) singled and went to second on an
Emilie Jansen (Kaukauna, WI) walk.
Emily Boehnlein (St. Cloud, WI) moved both runners with a sacrifice bunt. Wiesman was walked, setting it up for
Maria Archie (Madison, WI). Archie hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Malcore and the Sabres came away victorious.
Marian had six hits in the contest and
Emily Turba (Wisconsin Rapids, WI) held the Raiders to just two hits. She struck out nine in the game.
Wiesman was the only Sabre with a multiple-hit game.
Marian is back at home tomorrow evening, as they will host Lakeland College at 5:00 PM.
