(Madison, WI) - After winning game one of their doubleheader against Edgewood College, Marian had won nine straight against the Eagles, but that streak came to an end in game two. The Sabres won game one 3-1 in nine innings, but lost a late lead in game two and lost 9-6.
Marian (15-12, 8-8 NAC) scored first in game one as
Jenna Whitehead (Kimberly, WI) hit a sacrifice fly to drive in
Maria Archie (Madison, WI) in the fourth inning. The Eagles scored in the sixth to tie the game and force extra innings.
Marian was able to score a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to earn the victory. This time, Whitehead doubled in Archie to make it 2-1 and later in the inning
Brooke Haen (Oakfield, WI) doubled in
Rachel Mullendore (Amery, WI), who pinch ran for Whitehead.
Jamie Whitehead (Kimberly, WI) picked up the complete-game victory, as she gave up just five hits in nine innings.
Emily Wiesman (Sheboygan, WI), Haen, and Archie all had two hits for Marian.
In game two, the Sabres fell behind 4-0 early, but rallied back and took a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth, after scoring four runs. The Eagles answered right back however, as they plated four runs in the bottom of the inning to take home the victory.
Marian out-hit the Eagles 11-9 and were led by Haen. She was 2-for-4 with a three RBIs and a pair of runs. She homered in the fourth inning.
Ashley Engler (Waterford, WI) had a solid offensive game as she was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs. Wiesman also had a pair of hits,
while Emilie Jansen (Kaukauna, WI) had a pair of RBIs.
