Box Score (Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University ended a six-game losing streak to Edgewood College on Tuesday, as they defeated the Eagles 1-0. Marian has now won two-in-a-row and now sits at 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference. 

Marian's Mario Pinto (Sheboygan, WI) scored the game-winner in this one just 4:52 into the first period. It is the second straight game that Pinto has scored in and he now has three goals on the year. Jose Hernandez (Sheboygan Falls, WI) recorded the assist on the play. 

The Sabres out-shot the Eagles 17-12 in the contest and played solid defense throughout. 

Marian goalkeeper, Nathan Thiery (Hartford, WI) recorded his second straight shutout, stopping five shots in the process. 

Marian is back in action on Saturday, as they will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College. Action is set to begin at 3:30 PM.

We had a great goal by our leading scorer Mario Pinto, taken out of the air with a side volley and into the side netting off a great serve by Lupe Hernandez. Getting that early goal help our confidence a lot and energized us.”

 

“Jimmy Chavez had a good game in the center of midfield winning balls on the ground and in the air and our whole back line and keeper did a good job making sound decisions, staying compact, and getting stuck in to get the clean sheet. Both Milan Stupar and Kevin Mawhinney played well. Milan did well as a target checking, holding the ball, and keeping possession for us. Kevin was a force in the air and put his best effort of the season into this game.”
