(Fond du Lac, WI) - Concordia University scored 48 points in the second half on Saturday evening en route to an 84-76 victory over Marian at Sadoff Gymnasium. The Sabres led by four at halftime, but the Cougars shot a scorching 68% from the field in the second half on their way to victory.
Marian (2-6; 0-10 NAC) shot well in the first half as they hit on 13-of-24 from the field to take a 40-36 lead into the locker room. They were hot from behind-the-arc, hitting 9-of-14.
Jeff Harris (Calumet Park, IL) had 17 in the half, while
Zach Damrow (Juneau, WI) netted 11.
The Sabres largest lead in the half was 16-3 with 15:18 to play.
In the second, the Cougars opened on a 15-3 run to take a 51-43 lead and they never looked back. Marian cut the deficit to 67-63 with 6:14 to play, but the Cougars followed that up with a quick 7-0 run.
Harris led the way for Marian with 24 points, while
Donnahugh Brown (Negril, Jamaica) added 13. Damrow finished with the 11.
Josh Washington (Milwaukee, WI) had a solid game with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals.
Larrell Gary led CUC with 17 points. The Cougars had five players in double-figures.
Marian out-rebounded the Cougars 35-31 in the contest.
The Sabres are back in action again on Wednesday, as they will travel to Edgewood College.
