(Fond du Lac, WI) - The Sabres dropped a 71-63 overtime contest on Saturday afternoon against Aurora University. The Sabres held a double-digit lead midway through the second half, but couldn't hang onto the lead.
Marian (2-11, 0-5 NAC) led at halftime 32-28 as they shot 13-for-28 (46.4%) from the field.
Josh Washington (Milwaukee, WI) gave the Sabres a spark in the half with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
In the second, the Sabres led 49-39 with 11:57 to play, but the Spartans worked their way back. Trailing 57-55 with 4:05 to play, Aurora's Josh Gabbard hit a jumper in the paint to tie the game and make things interesting.
Both teams went cold shooting the ball and had troubles taking care of the ball as neither team scored the rest of regulation.
Aurora dominated overtime as they scored the first nine points en route to the victory.
Marian finished the game shooting 26-for-62 (46.4%) from the field, while Aurora shot 24-for-67 (35.8%). Aurora held a 45-43 advantage in rebounds.
Jeff Harris (Calumet Park, IL) led Marian with 17 points, while Washington finished with 12.
Donnahugh Brown (Negril, Jamaica) had a big all-around game, posting 11 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Mike Bumber led Aurora with 22 points.
Marian is back in action again on Wednesday, as they will travel to Lakeland College.
