FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – Two first half
Laura Maly goals stood to the end as the Marian University women's soccer team claimed a 2-0 victory over the visiting Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons at Smith Fields this evening, Oct. 18.
Maly recorded her third multi-goal game of the season and registered her seventh and eighth goals of the year en route to the win. The Neenah, Wis. native put the Sabres on the board in the fourth minute before adding a 21st minute score that the Falcons could not find an answer to.
Marian improves to 10-6 overall, 8-2 in the NAC, while CUW falls to 9-6 (8-3 NAC).
Maly's first goal occurred on a scramble in front of the goal that found the goalkeeper, Samantha Anacker, out of position. The second score resulted from a beautiful service by
Mollie Tennessen to Maly for the goal.
Caitlyn Rosenberger won her seventh match in 10 starts after making three key saves. Anacker head a wail of a second half, making 15 stops en route to 17 total saves despite taking the loss.
Marian outshot the Falcons, 28-6, putting 19 shots on goal in one of its most complete games of the season. Tennessen recorded a match-high seven shots, six on goal in the win, while
Morgan Ansems added six shots, four on goal.
MU is back in action this Saturday as it takes on Alverno College in the regular season home finale at 2:30 p.m.
