FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's volleyball team fell to Lakeland College in a Northern Athletics Conference match in four sets (14-25, 26-24, 22-25, 20-25) at Sadoff Gymnasium this evening, Oct. 18.
The Sabres started out slow, but bounced back with a second set come-from-behind victory that was capped with an ace by junior setter
Katie Reimer. But the Muskies battled back and took the final two sets behind 18 kills by Allison Davis and a 47-assist, 16-dig double-double effort by Brittany Reindel.
Lakeland improves to 7-18 overall, 4-6 NAC, while Marian falls to 6-21 (3-6 NAC).
The Muskies finished the match with a .252 hitting percentage. Davis' 18 kills came on a .517-clip, while Amanda Dillman tallied 16 kills on a .355 hitting percentage. Katie Freitag also recorded double-digit kills with 10.
The Sabres managed just a .144-clip offensively behind 12 kills by Kaitlin Jarvis on 27 total attacks. Reimer chipped in 27 assists for Marian, while adding nine digs.
Kathryn Braunling also added eight kills and a team-high 11 digs in the match.
Marian will be back in action this Friday, Oct. 21, as it plays host to visiting Rockford College at 7 p.m.
