Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to Visiting Rockford

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's volleyball team fell in four sets (25-21, 27-29, 20-25, 20-25) to the visiting Regents of Rockford  College in Northern Athletics Conference action this evening, Oct. 21.

In a hotly-contested match that saw each set decided by five points or less, it was the Regents that came away with the victory. The Sabres drop their seventh straight match despite out-hitting Rockford .207-.182. The Sabres put three hitters in double figures, led by Carlie Kinsey's 13 kills on 44 total attacks.

The Regents improve to 8-10 overall, 5-5 in the NAC, while Marian falls to 6-22 (3-7 NAC).

Rockford's Heather Goodrich led all hitters with 21 kills on 33 attacks, good for a .545 hitting percentage. Courtney Pehl added a match-high 47 assists while Laina Scheri paced five Regents in double-digit digs with 18.

Nicole Lawler of Rockford and Katie Reimer of Marian each posted double-doubles in the match. Lawler tallied 13 kills and 12 digs, while Reimer added 41 assists and 11 digs.

The Sabres will be back in action tomorrow morning as they host MSOE in NAC action inside Sadoff Gymnasium. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
