Carlie Kinsey and a double-double by
Katie Reimer, the Marian University women's volleyball team overwhelmed the Alverno College Inferno, 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 25-11, 25-15), in Northern Athletics Conference action at Reiman Gymnasium Tuesday, Oct. 4.
After dropping a close first set, the Sabres responded by taking the next three sets, including the final two in convincing fashion. Reimer tallied her 14th double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs. Libero
Ashley Zumbrock led the squad with 16 digs and four service aces en route to the win.
Marian snapped its five-match losing streak and improved to 6-15 overall, 3-3 in the NAC with the win. Meanwhile, Alverno dropped to 3-18 (0-6 NAC).
The Sabres out-hit the Inferno .209-.097 for the match while hitting .407 in the third set and .308 in the final set. It was the 11th straight win for Marian over Alverno in the all-time series.
Marian will continue its busy week with two matches each on Friday and Saturday. The Sabres meet Concordia Chicago at 3 p.m. Friday in River Forest, Ill.
