MADISON, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – Luke Peltonen scored twice and David Reinke added his sixth goal of the season to power the Marian University men's soccer team to a 3-0 road victory over the Edgewood College Eagles in Northern Athletics Conference action tonight, Oct. 5.

Peltonen entered the night without a single goal this season until the 32nd minute when he took a deflected pass and blasted it through the left side of the goal to give the Sabres a 2-0 lead. Just eight minutes earlier, Reinke put Marian on the board with a free kick in which he bended his shot over a wall of Eagles and inside the left post.

Marian improves to 3-8-1 overall, 3-3 in the NAC while Edgewood falls to 4-5-3 (2-3-1 NAC).

Reinke's goal came in the 24th minute after a foul just 22 yards from the goal. It was one-of-four shots on the night for the sophomore from nearby McFarland. Peltonen, who registered three shots, recorded his first multi-goal game of his career.

His second goal came off a shot deflection in the 78th minute, providing an insurance goal that surely sunk the hopes of any Edgewood College comeback Wednesday night.

Marian keeper, Nathan Thiery, made four saves in earning his first shutout of the season and the Sabres outshot the Eagles 17-16 in the match.

Marian hits the road to take on Rockford College in 7:30 p.m. start time on Saturday, Oct. 8.
