RIVER FOREST, Ill. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's volleyball team dropped two matches Saturday, Oct. 8, to host Dominican and non-conference Robert Morris College (Ill.) at the Igini Sports Forum on the campus of Dominican University.
The Sabres fell on the short-end in six-of-seven sets on the afternoon as they fell in straight sets to the Stars before dropping a four-set affair to RMC.
Katlin Jarvis combined for 12 kills in both matches, while
Elizabeth Zutz totaled 11 combined.
MU falls to 6-19 overall, 3-5 in the NAC. Meanwhile, Dominican improves to 18-4 (8-0 NAC) and Robert Morris (Ill.) moves to 11-10.
Things started out slow for the Sabres in their NAC meeting with the Stars as the hosts took the first set, 25-9. Dominican, which hit an impressive .365 for the match, took the final two sets 25-12 and 25-16.
Marian bounced back in its second match against Robert Morris (Ill.) by taking the opening set, 25-21. The Sabres won the set thanks to a .200 hitting percentage and nine hitting errors by RMC. The Eagles responded by then taking the next three sets, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-15.
The Sabres now prepare to host non-conference opponent, Lake Forest College, this Wednesday, Oct. 12. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. inside Sadoff Gymnasium.
