Foresters Net Four Goals in Taking Down Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to the visiting Lake Forest College Foresters in an NCHA matchup at Blueline Family Ice Center this evening, Nov. 11.

The Foresters used two first period goals to pace them to the victory. Emily Wybo chipped in a goal and an assist in the win, while goaltender Jenna Brankin made all 18 saves en route to the save. Her counterpart, Amanda Alexander, made 36 saves of her own despite taking the loss. Lake Forest turned up the defense in getting its fifth straight win over the Sabres.

Lake Forest improves to 3-2-1 on the season, 2-2 in NCHA play, while Marian drops to 0-5 (0-4 NCHA).
The Foresters outshot the Sabres by a count of 40-18, challenging Alexander from the start as Molly Wallner netted the game's first goal and eventual game-winner just 1:20 into the first period. It was her first goal of the season.

The Foresters would go on to add a Wybo power play goal before the first intermission and another goal in each of the next two periods to cap the scoring.

The Sabres were called for four penalties, while the Foresters were whistled for five.

Both teams will meet again tomorrow to conclude their NCHA series. Game time is slated to start at 2 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill.
