FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's hockey team dropped a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association matchup to visiting College of St. Scholastica this afternoon, Dec. 3, by a score of 5-0 at Blueline Family Ice Center in Fond du Lac.

The Saints scored once in the first, and twice each in the second and third periods to account for the 5-0 victory. Nina Waidacher scored a hat trick in the win for the Saints, who match last year's win total at 6-2 overall, 6-2 in the NCHA. Meanwhile, the Sabres fall to 0-9 (0-8 NCHA).

Cara McMannis got the Saints on the board at the 12:13 mark of the first period on an assist by Alana Levido. They would take that one goal advantage into the first intermission until Waidacher posted her first of two goals at the 5:39 mark of the second period on assists by her sister Monika and Brenna Flatley chipped in assists on the goal.

St. Scholastica took a three-goal lead into the second intermission after Briana Stephens scored with just over five minutes left in the second. Nina Waidacher then added her second goal at the 5:39 mark in the third period on an assist by Michelle Fischer before tacking on her third score with 30 seconds remaining in the game.

Shannon Connolly recorded the shutout for the visiting Saints, making all 12 saves that came her way. Amanda Alexander started for the Sabres and was forced to leave due to injury, making five saves after one period of play. Katie Bassett came in for the final 40 minutes to stop 27 shots.

The Sabres will travel to Hamline for a pair of non-conference games next weekend, Dec. 9-10.
