(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University will enter its first Northern Athletics Conference Tournament on a three-game winning streak thanks to a 60-54 victory at home vs. MSOE. The Sabres are now 15-10 after the NAC Challenge victory and will be the seven-seed in the NAC Tournament. They will open up the postseason at \#2-seeded, Dominican University, on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
Marian led 28-22 at the break, but fell behind by as many as nine points early in the half. The Sabres hit five 3-pointers in the half to offset Carol Cayo's near double-double in the half. Cayo scored 14 points and added 9 rebounds in the half.
MSOE started hot in the second half and took a 35-30 lead with 16:38 to play. They led until the 7:06 mark.
Alexis Becker (North Fond du Lac, WI) hit a layup to give Marian a 49-47 lead. After a three by MSOE, Marian's
Brooke Haen (Oakfield, WI) hit a three to give Marian a 52-50 lead and they never trailed the rest of the way.
Haen led a balanced scoring effort for the Sabres with 16 points. Becker had a solid line, posting 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
Elizabeth Zutz (Valders, WI) added 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, while
Laura Derks (Greenville, WI) added 12 points on four deep balls.
Cayo led MSOE with 25 points and 15 rebounds.
