(Hancock, MI) - The Sabres nine-game winning streak came to and end on Friday evening as they fell 2-1 at Finlandia University. The Lions scored twice in the first period and it was enough as Marian's only goal came in the third period. The Sabres are now 14-6 overall and 11-4 in the MCHA.
The Sabres dominated in shots in this one, out-shooting Finlandia 44-22, but the Lions came up big in the first period. They scored a power play goal 6:20 in and added another goal at the 16:18 mark, which proved to be the game-winner.
Marian's only goal came in the third period at the 6:38 mark as
Dakota Dubetz (Chestermore, AB) scored his 13th goal of the year off assists from
Tommy Fitzpatrick (Ft. McMurray, AB) and
Nathan Brummitt (Calgary, AB).
Marian was 0-for-7 on the power play, while the Lions were 1-for-4. These two teams will face-off again tomorrow at Finlandia.
