(Stevens Point, WI) - UW-Stevens Point snapped Marian's four-game winning streak by sweeping the Sabres on Tuesday afternoon. The Pointers won game one 7-3 and won game two 15-5. Marian is now 7-14 on the year.
Marian had just two hits in the opener and the Pointers scored twice in the second, three times in the third and made it 7-0 in the fourth.
Marian finally got on the board in the seventh as
Stephanie Kersten and
Aubrey O'Brien drove in runs. Kersten had a two-RBI pinch-hit single.
In game two,
Emilie Jansen drove in
Nikki Ponticelli to give Marian a 1-0 lead in the second, but the Pointers answered with six in the bottom of the inning. They scored four more in the third and five in the fourth to make it 15-1.
Marian was able to tally four in the fifth as Ponticelli and Kersten picked up RBIs. The game ended in the fifth due to the eight-run rule.
Ponticelli and Jansen both had a pair of hits to lead the Marian offense.
Marian is back in action on Friday as they will play at St. Norbert College.
