(Aurora, IL) - The Aurora University Spartans shut down the Marian University offense on Friday afternoon, holding the Sabres to just one run in two games. The Spartans won game one 2-0 and finished the sweep with a 7-2 victory.
Marian is now 10-23 overall and 9-11 in the Northern Athletics Conference. They have two four games remaining this weekend that will determine their conference tournament hopes.
The Spartans out-hit Marian 7-2 in game one and tallied single runs in the second and fifth innings to earn the win. Marian's best chance to score was in the second when they stranded a pair of runners.
Brooke Haen collected both of Marian's hits in the game.
Cherise Waltz gave up just one earned run in the loss.
In game two, Marian took a 1-0 lead in the second as
Aubrey O'Brien hit her fourth home run of the season. Marian then had a chance for more in the third, but stranded the bases loaded.
Aurora tied it in the third and then scored three times in the fourth and sixth innings to take control.
The Spartans out-hit Marian 12-2 in the contest.
Marian is back in action again on Saturday, as they will play at Rockford College. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
