MILWAUKEE (SabreAthletics.com) – Four goals tied a season-high output for the royal blue and scarlet as the Marian University women's soccer team evened its record to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference with a convincing 4-1 road victory over MSOE in league action at Time Warner Stadium, Wednesday evening, Sept. 14.
There was a chill in the air as unseasonable temperatures could have made it an uncomfortable environment, but it seemed to light fire for the Sabre offensive attack. Marian posted two goals in each half, both second half goals coming after an MSOE score made it a one goal game in the 59th minute.
Freshman
Laura Maly posted her second career multi-goal game, including her first in NAC play, scoring twice against the Raiders Wednesday night. Maly began the scoring with a goal in the 40th minute to put the Sabres up 1-0. Sophomore
Jade Koeune then made it 2-0 less than four minutes later to send the visitors into halftime with a comfortable lead.
In the 59th minute, MSOE's Jessica Axt pulled the Raiders to within a goal before Maly provided the quick response three minutes later, followed by a
Leisa Conn goal two minutes after that to put the game away for good.
Conn, who is coming off a two-goal game against Lawrence back on Sept. 10, is second on the team with four goals on the season – just one behind Maly's five for the team-lead.
After spending its first two conference tilts on the road, Marian will welcome in Wisconsin Lutheran for its home opener on homecoming this Saturday, Sept. 17. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m.
