FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University men's soccer team snapped a two-match losing streak in impressive fashion by shutting out the Concordia University Chicago Cougars, 2-0, in Northern Athletics Conference play at Smith Fields, Saturday, Sept. 24.
The Sabres received goals from Jacob Dorsey and David Reinke in the match, improving the team's record to 2-6-1 on the season, 2-1 in the NAC. The Cougars fall to 1-8 (0-4 NAC) with the loss.
Dorsey broke the scoreless tie in the 35th minute to give the Sabres a 1-0 halftime lead. It was his first goal of the season. Reinke gave the royal blue and white a more comfortable lead with a score in the 55th minute, his fourth goal of the season on an assist from Denny Mudd.
The Sabres outshot the Cougars 10-7 in the match, putting all of their shots on goal. Both teams earned six corner kicks while combining for 22 fouls, 15 against the hosts.
Marian is back in action Tuesday night, Sept. 27, to take MSOE in conference play. The Sabres will play host in a 7 p.m. start at Smith Fields.
