Tom Glomski gave the Marian University men's hockey team its second thrilling finish in as many nights after netting the game-winning, short-handed goal with 1:12 remaining in regulation to claim a 4-3 MCHA win over MSOE, while claiming a season series sweep over the Raider in the process at Blueline Family Ice Center, this evening, Jan 14.

Glomski took advantage of a misplayed puck recovered by Mitch Kriz in the neutral zone, flung on by Andy Kuechler, and buried it in the back of the net with little time remaining. It marked the second goal of the third period for the Sabres, a night after scoring three unanswered goals in the third period to stun MSOE in Milwaukee. Both third period goals also broke a string of three consecutive scores by MSOE – that gave the visitors a 3-2 lead at one time.

Marian remains the only unbeaten team in MCHA play as they improve to 8-3-4 overall, 7-0-3 in the MCHA. Meanwhile, MSOE falls to 10-5 (7-3 MCHA).

The Sabres scored twice in the first period after Kriz got the hosts on the board just 36 seconds into the contest. Captain Dakota Dubetz followed up that tally with one of his own, a power play score at the 14:07 mark. Then, just before the first period came to a close, MSOE's Michael Schenfeld got the Raiders on the board with 20 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the first intermission.

In the second period, the Raiders had Marian goaltender Josh Baker standing on his head, peppering the sophomore with 17 shots, while converting twice. Jordan Keizer and Josh Keizer each tallied goals to give MSOE a 3-2 lead after two periods. But Marian showed resilience once again in the final stanza.

The Sabres' Brendan Roberts tied the game at the 12:29 mark, just two seconds into their power play to tie the game. Dubetz won the faceoff that led to the goal and was credited with an assist on the score.

Then, as it seemed the game was destined for overtime, Glomski found a seam and Kuechler and Kriz found a way to get it to him to steal the victory at home.

The sweep over MSOE sets up a highly-anticipated matchup with defending MCHA champs Adrian, as the Bulldogs come to Fond du Lac for a two-game set Jan. 22-23, at Blueline Family Ice Center.
