Tom Glomski's first two-goal game of the season sparked the Marian University men's hockey team to a 4-1 victory over visiting Finlandia University in MCHA action inside Blue Line Family Ice Center this evening, Jan. 27.

The Sabres win their fourth straight, including third in a row this season, over the Lions. Both teams will meet tomorrow at 4 p.m. for Marian's Fifth Annual “Pink Out” Game, which will raise money for breast cancer awareness. The Sabres are teaming up with Agnesian HealthCare to provide free mammogram screenings to women who cannot afford them.

Glomski got the Sabres in the scoring column in the first period with a goal at the 12:33 mark and followed it up with a second period score as well. Marian took a 3-0 lead on Dmitry Sentsov's score in the third period before Finlandia broke the shutout. Mitch Kriz added an empty-net goal late to secure the 4-1 win in front of the home crowd.

Marian improves to 9-5-4 overall, 8-2-3 in the MCHA with the win, while Finlandia falls to 4-13 (4-9 MCHA) with the loss.

Glomski first period goal came on the doorstep as he hammered one home from point-blank range. Tommy Fitzpatrick and Chris Thompson were credited with assists on the play. It was the lone goal for the Sabres in the period after peppering Finlandia goalie Mike Wuthrich with 19 shots on goal.

It was much of the same in the second period as Wuthrich saw 18 shots come his way. Glomski scored the lone tally in that period as well, taking another Fitzpatrick pass and putting it home for his ninth goal of the year.

Leading 2-0 in the third period, Sentsov found the net for his second goal of the season on an assist from Kriz at the 6:26 mark. Kriz then got in the action once more by scoring his third goal of the year, an empty-net tally at the 18:58 mark. Bryce Wilson got the assist.

Prior to that Finlandia's Cole Workman erased Marian goalie, Josh Baker's, shutout bid at the 7:56 mark. It was Baker's only blemish on the night, though, as the sophomore made 20 saves en route to his seventh victory of the year. His counterpart, Wuthrich, converted 43 saves despite taking the loss.

Both teams will be back at it tomorrow in the annual “Pink Out” game inside Blue Line Family Ice Center in Fond du Lac. Puck drops at 4 p.m.
