FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University's men's hockey team rebounded with a shutout of their own, 3-0, splitting the series against Finlandia University this evening, Nov. 10 at Blue Line Family Ice Center.

After a scoreless first period, Marian's Ashton Reinboldt tallied his first goal of the season, assisted by Mitch Kriz, at the 7:28 mark. The goal came short-handed while Warren Carter was serving Andy Kuechler's major penalty. With tough defense and an added two goals, the Sabres would shut out the Lions and split the series.

Marian improved to 2-3-1 overall, 2-2-0 in the MCHA with the win, while Finlandia fell to 2-3-0 (2-2-0 MCHA) with the loss.

The Sabres were firing on all cylinders this evening, proving their offense is a force to be reckoned with. In the first period, Marian got off 16 shots compared to Finlandia's four. At the time, Lion goaltender Troy Chandler seemed to pick up right where he left off from last night's shutout.

In the second period, the Sabres rattled the Lions as they scored short-handed, at the 7:28 mark. Marian would later add an insurance goal by Robbie Bailey, assisted again by Kriz at the 9:15 mark of the third period.

With ten seconds left in the game, Tyler Klein snuck in an empty net goal as Finlandia pulled their goalie in hopes for a miracle at the 19:30 mark.

Sabre goalie, Josh Baker earned his first shutout of the season, stopping all 18 shots he faced.

The Sabres have off until a two-game series with Lawrence University begins Thursday, Nov. 15. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
