Raiders Sweep Series over Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University men's hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision against MCHA opponent Milwaukee School of Engineering for the second straight night, this evening, Dec. 8 at Blueline Family Ice Center during Marian Hockey's Sixth Annual Pink Out Event.

Tyler Klein gave the Sabres an early lead, but in the end, were unable to secure the victory. The Sabres held the lead until the final period, when the Raiders scored two unanswered goals.

MSOE improved to 8-3-1 overall, 6-3-1 in MCHA play with the win, while Marian dropped to 6-7-1 (6-4-0 MCHA) with the loss.

Kelin's goal, assisted by Brian Berger, came short-handed at the 24-second mark of the first period gave the Sabres the lead. The Sabre defense prevailed allowing only six shots on goal, and 23 in the game.

In the second period, Marian had ample opportunities to score due to multiple Raider penalties, but came up empty handed, getting only 12 shots off in the period.

The Raiders, however, took advantage of a Brendan Roberts hooking penalty early in the third period, netting a goal at the 17:07 mark. Nine minutes later, Raider Bradley Tierney gave the Raiders the go-ahead goal at the 8:48 mark. The Sabres pulled goalie, Randy Willis for the final 36 seconds to give them the man advantage, but came up empty handed.

Marian become road warriors as their next six games are on the road. They rest though until Saturday, Jan. 12 visiting MSOE once again. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
